Dr. Marilyn Highland
Dr. Highland has had a lifetime career in education. For 17 years, she was principal of Bay Haven School of Basics Plus— the only school in Sarasota recognized as a National School of Excellence by President George Bush and his wife Barbara in 1989.
She has been an Associate Professor in School Counseling at Argosy University, the Interim Principal of Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences, a School Counselor at Community Day School, and is currently a Member of the Board of Directors of Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences.
Her volunteer work has been extensive, devoting her time and efforts to Tidewell Hospice, Selby Gardens and SPARCC.
She has a long history with SOAR Learning Center, having worked with Mrs. Paulk for many years. She believes deeply in the SOAR Program's mission and goals, and has seen the impact the SOAR team is making in increasing academic success for the children being served.
